The GTM Launchpad is where we open the hood on B2B revenue - fixing structure, sharpening outbound and building pipeline that actually holds up
FROM THE GARAGE
Been back from San Diego a few days now and…
I think I needed that trip more than I realized
Took the family down for Memorial Day weekend
Zoo
Seaport Village
Too much food
Too many snacks
Long drives
Minimal laptop time
Just slowed life down for a few days
and somewhere in the middle of all that…
I realized something I’ve been feeling for awhile now
The more aligned my life gets…
the less I feel the need to force everything
Not because ambition is gone
If anything…
I’m more focused than ever
But I’m learning there’s a huge difference between
motion
and
momentum
That thought followed me into client sessions this week too
A lot of outbound teams right now are working incredibly hard…
without enough real momentum underneath the activity
and I think I finally figured out one of the biggest reasons why
Most outbound today has no urgency built into it
That’s the leak
PIPELINE LEAK
RANDOM OUTREACH CREATES RANDOM PIPELINE
This week during a live workshop…
we started building out a competitor displacement play around a market transition happening right now and the difference in conversation quality was immediate
Why?
Because the outreach finally had tension built into it
Not fake urgency
Real operational urgency
A market shift
A migration timeline
Internal pressure
Roadmap disruption
Resource strain
The prospect already knew change was coming
That changes EVERYTHING
Because most outbound today sounds like this:
“Hey just wanted to introduce myself…”
“Wanted to see if this was a priority…”
“Curious if you’re open to learning more…”
That’s not outreach
That’s hoping
and buyers can feel it instantly
The strongest outbound conversations usually happen when the market itself creates the opening
Not when reps try to manufacture one
THE SHIFT MOST TEAMS ARE MISSING
For years outbound was mostly about attention.
Can you get someone to reply?
Now?
AI helped solve some of that
Personalization scaled
Volume scaled
Automation scaled
But here’s the new problem:
Most teams are generating activity without context
No operational event
No market trigger
No friction
No timing
Just reps dropping generic messaging into stable environments where nobody actually feels pressure to change
That’s why so much pipeline stalls right now
Because outbound works best when something in the prospect’s world is already moving
A hiring surge
A funding round
A security event
A migration
A leadership change
A competitor sunset
An internal rebuild
Signal creates opportunity
Not random sequencing
WHAT WE BUILT THIS WEEK
Inside our workshop this week…
we stopped focusing so much on “pitching the product”
and started focusing on diagnosing transition pain.
Big difference
Instead of
→ feature dumping
→ generic discovery
→ rushed CTAs
we focused on
→ operational friction
→ timeline pressure
→ migration risk
→ internal resource strain
→ what breaks during change
and the calls immediately sounded better
Calmer
More relevant
More commercially aware
Because the rep finally had a REAL reason to be calling
Not just “checking in”
One thing I told the team this week:
👉 “Don’t pitch the replacement. Diagnose the transition”
That changed the entire energy of the conversations
THE BIGGEST OUTBOUND MISTAKE RIGHT NOW
Most SDR teams are still trying to brute force pipeline through activity
More dials
More emails
More sequences
More automation
But if there’s no urgency underneath the outreach…all you’re creating is more surface level conversations.
That’s why some reps are booking meetings
but very little real pipeline is coming out the other side
There’s no tension
No timing
No operational reason for change
The best outbound teams right now aren’t just finding accounts.
They’re finding movement.
That’s the game now.
UNDER THE HOOD
A few things from this week
→ Rolled back into client workshops after vacation
→ Built out competitor ripout workflows and Gong coaching systems
→ Continued refining live SDR call reviews
→ Dropped another CDU episode… and honestly still wild saying we interviewed the President of Varsity 😂
→ Izzy officially got called up to All-Star which means we are FULLY entering cheer parent chaos now
→ Got more intentional again with structure, calendar control and energy management
and I’m starting to realize something
Discipline isn’t restrictive
Good systems actually create breathing room
The last 5 weeks operating inside a tighter weekly structure has probably been one of the healthiest shifts I’ve made in years
Less reacting
Less chaos
More presence
Still building hard
Just not destroying myself while doing it anymore
30 SECOND INSPECTION
Quick gut check:
Does your outbound strategy currently rely on
→ generic personalization?
→ random sequencing?
→ brute force activity?
→ “just checking in” messaging?
Or does your team actually have
→ market timing
→ operational triggers
→ transition events
→ real business tension
→ urgency built into the outreach?
Because those are two VERY different outbound motions
ONE MORE THING
If your SDR team is generating activity…but struggling to create real momentum…
that’s exactly what we rebuild inside Revenue Rebuild
Not just messaging
Operational outbound systems
Signals
Conversations
Discovery
Pipeline
Because random outreach creates random results
THE QUESTION
What creates the BEST outbound conversations right now in your opinion?
→ timing?
→ personalization?
→ market events?
→ operational pain?
→ relationships?
→ something else?
Reply and let me know
I read every one
Have a great week 🤙
Thanks for reading. See you again next week at 8 am MST!

How The SD Lab Helps
If your outbound motion feels busy…
…but fragile
If your CRM looks full…
…but forecasting still feels shaky
If your team works hard…
…but pipeline doesn’t feel predictable
That’s what I fix
I work with founders and sales leaders in B2B (Series A–B, 5–20+ reps) who need structure before scale
Not more activity
Not more tools
Structure
Here’s how we do it:
Revenue Rebuild (45 Days)
This is the core engagement.
A hands-on rebuild of your outbound foundation so pipeline becomes structured, measurable and owned by the team not held together by heroics.
Inside 45 days we:
Lock in ICP and segmentation
Define deal stages with real exit criteria
Install signal-driven targeting
Simplify outbound into one focused lane at a time
Build systems your team can actually run
Best for:
Stalled or inconsistent pipeline
Founder-led outbound that needs structure
Forecasts built on vibes instead of milestones
Focused Workshops
When you don’t need a full rebuild just a sharp correction
Cold call intensives
Messaging and email teardown sessions
SDR workflow audits
Founder-led outbound calibration
Designed for fast clarity and immediate execution lift
Outbound Underground
Our private Slack community for reps and leaders building outbound in the real world.
