This week I sent another 50+ DMs to SDR leaders
No pitch
No sequence
No automation
Just one question
“SDR teams are doing more activity than ever… but pipeline still isn’t moving. Are you seeing that too?”
At this point I’m around
→ 180 DMs sent
→ 21+ deep replies
→ 2 meetings booked
But the interesting part wasn’t the meetings
It was the pattern
Almost every leader said some version of this
👉 “We’re getting replies… but conversations aren’t progressing”
and honestly?
That’s the real shift happening right now
PIPELINE LEAK | REPLIES DON’T MEAN PIPELINE
A year ago the problem was attention
Nobody was replying
Nobody was engaging
Outbound felt dead
Now?
Teams are getting replies
But deals still aren’t moving
That’s a completely different problem
Because once someone responds…
everything changes
Now your reps actually have to
→ control a conversation
→ create urgency
→ qualify deeply
→ progress the deal
→ earn the next step
and that’s where a lot of teams are quietly breaking right now
THE MARKET CHANGED
The market figured out how to generate activity
More tooling
More AI
More personalization
More outbound volume
But somewhere along the way…
teams became really good at getting attention…
and really bad at progressing conversations
One SDR leader told me this week
👉 “Reply rates aren’t really our issue anymore. It’s what happens after”
That’s the leak
Not:
→ dial count
→ sequence volume
→ email opens
The leak is:
→ weak discovery
