The GTM Launchpad is where we open the hood on B2B revenue - fixing structure, sharpening outbound and building pipeline that actually holds up
FROM THE GARAGE
This week I almost created a problem that didn't actually exist.
A new client signed.
The agreement was done.
The kickoff was ready.
Then...
Nothing.
No payment
No update
No kickoff date
A year ago I probably would've started filling in the blanks.
Maybe they're getting cold feet
Maybe they changed their mind
Maybe I missed something on the discovery call
Instead...
I sent one follow-up.
A few hours later they replied.
They're opening new bank accounts
Finalizing corporate paperwork
Everything was still moving
Just not on my timeline
It hit me how quickly our brains try to explain things we haven't actually inspected yet and once I noticed it I started seeing the same pattern everywhere this week.
Inside client conversations
Inside sales teams
Even inside myself
Most problems aren't where they first appear
Let's get into it
PIPELINE LEAK
Most leaders solve the symptom instead of the bottleneck.
This week I spent time helping a client prepare for several outbound campaigns.
On the surface it would've been easy to blame execution.
The reps were eager
The messaging was solid
The campaigns were mapped out
But before anyone rewrote emails or changed call scripts, we stopped and looked underneath everything.
The bottleneck wasn't effort.
It wasn't coaching
It wasn't outbound
It was data.
Not enough qualified people to put into the system. So instead of spending hours trying to improve messaging by two percent...we enriched nearly 280 qualified prospects with roughly a 90% verification rate.
Now the campaigns have a real chance to tell us the truth.
That conversation reminded me how often sales leaders attack the first thing they can see.
Pipeline slows down...must be the reps.
Meetings dip...must be the messaging.
Forecast slips...must be the market.
Sometimes that's true.
More often there's a quieter constraint underneath everything
and until you find it...
You're optimizing around the bottleneck instead of removing it
WHAT CHANGED MY THINKING THIS WEEK
One sentence kept following me around all week.
Operational problems become emotional problems when we stop inspecting them.
The delayed payment wasn't an emotional problem.
It was an operational one.
The client didn't need reassurance.
They needed time.
The same thing happened inside another engagement.
One SDR wasn't asking...
"What email should I send?"
He was asking...
"How do we automate this?"
"Can AI help enrich the list?"
"How do we operationalize this?"
That's a completely different conversation.
He's no longer looking for another tactic.
He's looking for a better system.
I think that's one of the biggest signs a team is maturing.
They stop chasing individual wins.
They start reducing friction.
UNDER THE HOOD
A few things from this week.
• Helped launch multiple outbound plays for an existing client instead of treating every campaign like a one-off project.
• Diagnosed a data bottleneck and delivered nearly 280 qualified prospects instead of rewriting messaging that wasn't actually broken.
• Watched an SDR begin asking systems questions instead of script questions.
• Sent a simple follow-up on a delayed client payment...and learned the delay had nothing to do with the sale.
• Won Best Cheer Podcast with Cheer Dads Unfiltered after six months of consistently showing up.
• Spent more time serving than promoting while I was in Orlando...and somehow left with more opportunities than I arrived with.
Looking back...
The biggest wins weren't dramatic.
They came from slowing down long enough to inspect what was actually happening.
30 SECOND INSPECTION
Here's something worth looking at this week.
What's the biggest problem your team is trying to solve right now?
Now ask yourself...
Are you fixing the symptom...
or have you actually found the bottleneck?
Those are rarely the same thing
ONE MORE THING
One thing I've noticed about experienced operators...
They don't panic when something slows down.
They get curious.
They inspect.
They ask better questions before making bigger decisions.
This week reminded me that leadership isn't about having faster answers.
It's about diagnosing the right problem.
Because once you find the real bottleneck...
The solution usually becomes a whole lot simpler.
THE QUESTION
What's one problem inside your organization that might actually be pointing to a different bottleneck underneath?
Reply and let me know.
I read every one.
Thanks for spending a few minutes with me this Monday.
I'll be back next week with another field report from inside the trenches.
Have a great week. 🤙
Thanks for reading. See you again next week at 8 am MST!

How The SD Lab Helps
If your outbound motion feels busy…
…but fragile
If your CRM looks full…
…but forecasting still feels shaky
If your team works hard…
…but pipeline doesn’t feel predictable
That’s what I fix
I work with founders and sales leaders in B2B (Series A–B, 5–20+ reps) who need structure before scale

Install signal-driven targeting
Simplify outbound into one focused lane at a time
Build systems your team can actually run
