The Next 10 Days Decide Q1
Why execution not planning is what separates momentum from another false start

Welcome to the GTM Launchpad newsletter! Each week I will share a sales play to help you grow your business, level up your sales game and succeed in the trenches
Mid-January is sneaky
The noise from New Year’s has faded
The “we’ll figure it out” grace period is gone
And suddenly… things are real again
Pipelines are being looked at
Dashboards are getting opened
Leaders are asking quiet questions they didn’t want to ask on Jan 3
This is the moment most teams don’t talk about
Not the reset
Not the planning
The handoff
The moment where intention has to turn into motion
and this week?
I’ve been sitting right in the middle of that moment
The Part Nobody Prepares You For
I just wrapped the build on a full outbound engine for a founder
HubSpot
ZoomInfo
Expandi
Smartlead
Maildoso
All wired
All tested
All live
and here’s the part nobody tells you
The build isn’t the hard part
The hard part is what happens after you hand someone the keys
Because now there’s no excuse left
No “we’re still setting things up”
No “once the system is ready”
No more duct tape
It’s just:
daily rhythm
follow-up discipline
trusting the system when replies don’t come instantly
staying consistent when novelty wears off
This is where most GTM motions quietly die
Not because they were bad ideas
But because nobody slowed down long enough to help the operator live inside the system
Execution doesn’t fail loudly
It fades
What I’m Seeing With Teams Who Are Actually Making It Stick
Two data points from this week that matter
1. Founders don’t need more activity. They need fewer decisions
The system we built is 90% autonomous on purpose
Why?
Because execution improves when thinking decreases
When a founder knows
where to check
what matters today
what can wait
They don’t burn energy guessing
They show up
They act
They repeat
2. Confidence comes from reps seeing progress not hype
I had another coaching session with the Oliv crew this week
and the shift wasn’t magic scripts or clever lines
It was this:
The rep could feel the improvement
Cleaner conversations
Better follow-ups
Less second guessing
Confidence isn’t motivational
It’s mechanical
You build it by fixing the system underneath the rep
On Saturday… my little peanut Bella became a national cheer champion!!
First competition ever
Six months of training
Walked out in first place
I’ve built companies
Closed deals
Hit goals I used to dream about
Nothing touches watching your kid walk onto a floor scared, focused, ready… and then win!!
That moment reminded me of something important:
Preparation doesn’t guarantee results
But it gives you a damn good shot when it matters
Same in GTM
Same in parenting
Same in life

If you’ve been dipping in..thank you!
We are dropping Episode 5 this Thursday
Episode 6 (next week) is a full recap of our first competition
and this one hit me hard
Our coaches told us:
“It’s been the talk of the town. We’re obsessed.”
That’s how you know you built something real
If you want something not GTM to balance your week
One Question Worth Sitting With
Ask yourself (or your team):
“What part of our system still relies on memory instead of structure?”
That’s where execution leaks
Tom’s Play of the Week
The 10-Day Lock-In
Forget Q1 planning for a second
Here’s the only play I care about right now:
For the next 10 days:
Same accounts
Same message
Same daily rhythm
Same review window
No tinkering
No shiny objects
No panic edits
Just run the play
Then review once
Execution compounds when you stop interrupting it
Let Me Land This
January doesn’t reward urgency
It rewards follow through
The teams who win Q1 won’t be the loudest right now
They’ll be the ones who stayed boring, steady and disciplined while everyone else kept resetting
If your system is live….protect it!
If your reps are improving….don’t rush them
If things feel slow? Good! That’s usually where momentum is forming
We’re just getting started
I’ll see you next Monday
Same time. Same place
Let’s keep building 🤙
Thanks for reading. See you again next week at 8 am MST!
